Job Description
Business District Liaison

Frankford Community Development Corporation is a minority controlled non-profit community development corporation. Its mission is to enhance and rebuild communities within the City of Philadelphia through multiple means. To accomplish our mission, FCDC is involved in the development of both home ownership for low and moderate-income individuals and families, as well as the revitalization of commercial corridors and the creation of economic opportunities. FCDC has also undertaken economic development activities to support the commercial environment of Frankford as well as creating employment opportunities in our community. This activity has resulted in the Frankford commercial corridor receiving Main Street designation from the National Historic Preservation?s Main Street Cen ter, as well as receiving technical assistance in unique partnership with the Local Initiative Support Corporation.

FCDC is seeking a Business District Liason for the Frankford commercial corridor. The goal of this initiative is to improve the business climate and livability of the Frankford commercial corridor, through coordinated programs in design, marketing and promotions, cleanliness, business attraction and retention as well as business recruitment.

Basic Functions
The Business District Manager is responsible for implementing Frankford Avenues vision as developed through community visioning and refined by volunteers and the Frankford Community Development Corporation?s Board of Directors, Executive Director and Director of Economic Development.

Basic Area of Responsibility
Project Management and Reporting
o Administer projects as directed by the Director of Economic Development.
o Establish and meet program benchmarks.
o Prepare and submit written narrative reports on a monthly basis.
o Assist in the delivery of direct City services (Depts. Of L&I, Sanitation, MBAT, etc.) to businesses within the target area.
o Assist in development and implementation of Special Events and Promotions in the target area.

Business Attraction, Retention, and Recruitment
o Attend area commercial trade conferences to market the Frankford Avenue commercial corridor as a business expansion or relocation opportunity.
o Identify, and meet with businesses looking to relocate or expand into new communities.

Additional
o Aid in the preparation of grant applications by assisting with budgeting and program goals development.
o Serve as FCDC team member by assisting with and attending community festivals, organizational fundraisers, and related events. May require weekends and evenings.
o Attend trainings, and workshops, as necessary. May require travel and overnight stays.
o Perform other tasks as needed and defined by FCDC.

Accountability
The Business District Manager reports to the Director of Economic Development.

Qualifications
o Degree in urban planning, marketing, business administration or related field, preferred but not required
o Excellent communications skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking
o Excellent interpersonal skills, including coalition building and ability to build relationships among diverse groups
o Strong organizational and time management skills
o Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher (Microsoft)

Salary and Benefits

o Salary Commensurate with experience
o Employer contribution towards comprehensive health insurance
o 10 days vacations, 10 sick days, 1 personal day in first year
