Beyond Hunger: Real People Real Solutions

May 2-4, 2012, Doubletree Hotel, Philadelphia, PA

The Center for Hunger-Free Communities is thrilled to be host our first national leadership conference on hunger and poverty, Beyond Hunger: Real People, Real Solutions, to be held in the Doubletree Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from May 2-4, 2012.

The objective of the conference is to reignite the dialogue on hunger and poverty in America, and a national plan to end hunger is in development.  Through innovative workshops and roundtables, the conference will bring together journalists, academics, advocates, researchers, international leaders, and government officials with the true experts – those women and men who know hunger and poverty first-hand.

With this goal in mind, we are asking organizations who plan to attend to sponsor participants from their own community to also attend the conference. These participants could be direct-service clients or other community members who are interested in advocacy. There is no registration fee for these participants. If you are interested in sponsoring someone from your community, please contact our Deputy Director, Aishah Miller at aishah.miller@drexel.edu.

Conference highlights include the Witnesses to Hunger Photo Exhibit including new photos from the project’s expansion to Boston and Baltimore and a screening of the new feature-length documentary film, Finding North.

We hope that you can join us for these three dynamic days to help energize the dialogue and develop innovative solutions to ending hunger in the United States.
