Thank you for your interest in the latest installment of the new Financing and Sustaining Youth Programs and Initiatives audio conference series. A joint effort by The Finance Project and The Forum for Youth Investment, this audio conference is intended to assist program developers and intermediaries, community organizations and policymakers by sharing information on creating and maintaining effective public-private partnerships to improve and expand youth programs and initiatives.

Across the nation, innovative efforts are underway to form public-private partnerships to improve supports, services and opportunities for youth. Whether the agenda is broad or targeted, creating public-private partnerships is an important financing strategy to consider for sustainability. Successful partnerships share a common set of principles and characteristics. These will be discussed as representatives from two promising partnerships share their perspectives on working to improve outcomes for youth and their communities.

Speakers:

? Karel Ares, Executive Director, Prevention First and Steven Guerra, Director of Illinois* Division of Community Health and Prevention, Department of Human Services will describe their comprehensive prevention planning at the state and local levels to assist young people to be Ready by 21TM. Through funding from DCHP, Prevention First has worked in a training contractor capacity with 5 pilot sites around the state to learn more about using the Ready by 21 approach to create system change.

? Charnetia Young, CVS Pharmacy Regional Learning Center, Washington, DC will discuss the partnership CVS/pharmacy and local government formed to create a Regional Learning Center which matches job seekers to permanent employment opportunities at CVS/pharmacy retail stores.
