Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice Invites Applications for U.S. General Fund
Deadline: December 1, 2006

The Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice (<a href="http://www.astraea.org/">http://www.astraea.org/</a>) works for social, racial, and economic justice in the U.S. and internationally. The foundation’s grantmaking and philanthropic advocacy programs help lesbians and allied communities challenge oppression and claim their human rights.

The foundation is accepting applications for its U.S. General Fund for Lesbian, Trans, Intersex, and LGBTI social change organizations and projects (including film, video, media, and cultural projects) that directly address the depth and complexity of critical issues in LGBTI communities.

Organizations/projects can apply for general support or project-specific funding.

The maximum grant size is $10,000, with grants generally ranging from $4,000 to $10,000 each.

All applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be reviewed for funding: primary work targets social change; ability to demonstrate participation in and leadership of communities most affected; demonstrated commitment to social, racial, economic, and gender justice, and a feminist commitment to address multiple intersections of oppression experienced by lesbians and LGBTI communities; and an annual organizational budget of $750,000 or less.

Visit the foundation’s Web site for complete program information and application procedures.
