Assistant Coordinator ? AVRP Youth Worker Program

Assistant Coordinator, AVRP the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (MAP) seeks an Assistant Coordinator for a full-time (40-hr/wk) position with the AVRP Youth Worker program. AVRP is an after-school art education program currently sponsored by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. It provides yearlong art instruction focused on mural making for youth ages 10 to 15 with a history of chronic truancy or at risk behavior. The mural projects are multi-dimensional anti-violence projects with the objective of using Art as a vehicle for social change. The projects include a writing component and small art projects in addition to mural making.

This position will consist of assisting the Program Coordinator in managing the AVRP program.

Responsibilities
* Acting as a site manager for several AVRP sites located throughout Philadelphia
* Managing instructors at each site
* Scheduling year-round workshops for instructors
* Coordinating monthly meetings with instructors
* Attending weekly meetings with the Program Coordinator
* Assisting in the creation of all exhibitions, which includes collecting, cataloging, and hanging artwork
* Providing support and management of special projects
* Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning

Qualifications
* Strong administrative and communication skills
* Ability to multitask
* Excellent time management and organizational skills
* Knowledge of visual art
* Experience with teaching youth
* Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, and Adobe Photoshop
* Bachelors degree is required
