SEE THE WORLD?
Through the Eyes of an Elder Immigrant

Become an Americorps* VISTA member with Project SHINE!
VISTA members will:
Recruit college students to become SHINE tutors.
Develop a student leadership base on campus.
Establish partnerships with community centers and senior programs.
Organize reflection sessions and end-of-semester celebrations.

Positions available at:
Temple University, Philadelphia, PA
San Jose Community College, San Jose, CA
California State University, Fullerton, CA
University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, HI

Applicants should have a bachelors degree, excellent communication and organizational skills, a commitment to literacy, citizenship, immigration and aging issues, and experience tutoring adults in ESL and literacy. Bilingual skills a plus!

SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) is a national service-learning initiative that builds partnerships among community colleges, universities and community-based organizations to benefit older immigrants, refugees and college students.
