AmeriCorps*VISTA Project Manager

Position Search

PACC is searching for a full-time AmeriCorps*VISTA Project Manager to lead, guide and support our 28 PACC-VISTA projects led by VISTA members. These VISTA members are based at higher education institutions around Pennsylvania with a focus on building capacity of their host institutions to address poverty in their communities.

A. Job Description

The Project Manager will provide leadership to the PACC-VISTA program through the following tasks:

I. Administer and develop the PACC-VISTA project by:
? Guiding and supporting PACC-VISTA members
? Supporting PACC-VISTA host sites and supervisors
? Conducting regular visits to PACC-VISTA host sites to promote VISTA retention
? Writing and submitting narrative quarterly reports on PACC-VISTA activity
? Writing grants and developing funds to support PACC-VISTA program
? Planning and implementing PACC-VISTA trainings and meetings for VISTA supervisors and members
? Assisting PACC Executive Director with fund raising activities to support the PACC-VISTA program
? Conducting program and site evaluation
? Collaborating with PACC staff to manage grant budget

II. Serve as a liaison between PACC and its national service partners by:

? Developing collaborations
? Promoting PACC-VISTA project
? Contributing to state and national initiatives

III. Increase capacity of PACC to serve its members by:

? Establishing and maintain communications with PACC-VISTA members and their host sites
? Providing training and technical assistance about PACC and the PACC-VISTA project to prospective host-site members
? Contributing to providing membership benefits to PACC institutions
? Assisting with organizational and programmatic sustainability
? Planning and coordinating PACC constituent events

IV. Other duties/projects as assigned by the Executive Director

B. Organizational Relationships

The project manager: (a) reports to the executive director of PACC; (b) works closely with the office manager who manages grants; (c) is responsible for sustaining relationships with VISTA host sites, PA Campus Compact staff, other state Campus Compact offices, the national Campus Compact, state and national Corporation for National Service offices , the PA Department of Education, PennSERVE, and other VISTA projects in PA.

C. Qualifications:

Education
* BA/BS degree, Master?s degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
* Working knowledge of community service and service-learning best practices
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ease of use in standard computer software, email, and internet
* Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks effectively, and take initiative
* Able to work independently and with teams
* Ability to interact with students, administrators, faculty, and college presidents

Experience
* Two years minimum grant management experience
* Two years minimum experience working within the higher education setting
* Two years minimum experience working with community-based and/or non-profit organizations, preferred experience with AmeriCorps or year of service programs

D. Performance Standards

Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified time frame; (2) responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with the performance objectives; (3) effective cooperative relationships exist with other members of the PACC team as well as outside constituents.

E. Salary/Benefits: Starting salary mid- 40?s (negotiable based upon experience and training), health care benefit coverage with contribution to TIAA-CREF retirement

F. Summary of position

The best candidate for this position will be someone who has a passion for public service, enjoys working in an environment that values collegiality, humor, and reflection, and works equally as well independently and as a member of a team. Ideally, the project manager will be an independent worker, capable of taking initiative and seeing projects through to their completion. The project manager will be required to conduct site visits throughout the state. This position requires occasional overnight travel, weekend, and evening work.
