Playworks: AmeriCorps Program Coordinator

Posted on: May 26, 2011

Do you love working with children and being active? Do you want to develop your career in a fun, playful environment where you can make a daily difference to the learning environment?

Playworks program coordinators, known as “coaches” work full time, on-site with the schools that we serve. Our enthusiastic, well-trained Playworks coaches manage a safe and inclusive recess where children are inspired to get off the sidelines and into the game. We work with urban schools to employ play and physical activity as tools for generating more community and family involvement through teaching and implementing conflict resolution strategies.

Playworks is proud to partner with AmeriCorps, providing opportunities for individuals to make a difference in their lives and the lives of those around them. Many of our first-year coaches are AmeriCorps members, applying their skills and ideals to helping others and serving their community by serving in schools.

Playworks Program Coordinators are full-time positions, responsible for planning and implementing play and physical activity programming during recess, in school and outside of school hours at a public school.

We are proud to be hiring full-time, benefited positions with an August start date. We will be accepting applications starting in March. As an equal opportunity program, Playworks encourages applications from all individuals regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, or physical ability, and evaluates all candidates on a merit basis.
