West Chester University, a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, seeks to hire an Administrative Assistant 1 for the Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact. This is a full-time position within the Division of Student Affairs, awarded as one of the “Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs” by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education for the second year in a row.

The Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact promotes community-based learning experiences that address issues of public concern by building mutually beneficial partnerships and empowering students to be active citizens in their local, national and global communities. As part of the Center, the WCU Resource Pantry supports student success by minimizing food and basic need insecurity and preparing students for life after graduation.

Under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Civic Engagement & Social Impact, the Administrative Assistant is responsible administrative tasks supporting the operations of the department and the Resource Pantry. This position requires the ability to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities; strong organization skills; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a culturally diverse campus community of students, staff, faculty and our constituents.

The ideal candidate has experience working or interacting with individuals that have faced basic needs insecurity such as hunger or homelessness; experience with civic engagement activities such as community service, volunteering and advocacy; experience tracking organizational spending and budgets; and experience working in a higher education or non-profit setting.
