7th Annual Open House & Outdoor Arts Festival
Jen by Deborah Boardman

The artists’ center, CEC (Community Education Center), presents the 7th Annual Open House and Outdoor Arts Festival, celebrating 25 Years of presenting the best in local arts.  This free family-friendly event will showcase performances by some of the areas finest dancers, musicians, poets, and more. Some of this year’s lineup includes:

Group Motion Multimedia Dance Company, Buster Adam’s Latin Nation (mini-salsa class), Ron Wood (aka Zen One, performing a  Capoeira demonstration), Charles Tyson’s Underground DanceWorks, Gwen Bye’s Fusion 2 (youth company), Tomas Dura’s flamenco class, and Naja (R&B and poetry), Danse4Nia*, to name a few.

A highlight of the event is always the New Edge Resident Artists in the annual Meet the Artists presentation which will take place at 3pm.  This year’s resident artists are dancer/choreographer Nora Gibson and performance poet Gabrielle Casella.  The Meet the Artists presentation will also offer a sneak-peek at some of the more than 15 artists who will be presented in the 2009-2010 season’s New Edge Mix Performance Series.

Our outdoor event will also feature a market place with something for everyone; wonderful inexpensive fine art, arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing and more!

Lastly, the CEC ask artists and audience alike to help in the Bring the Harvest food drive. We will be collecting canned goods to be donated to a local food pantry.  Thank You!
