2nd Annual Multi-School Musical: Barrio Grrrl!
Posted by After School Activities Partnership on May 8, 2017
On May 11th & 12th- ASAP/ After School Activities Partnerships & ASPIRA of PA, INC., present the 2nd Annual Multi-School Musical, bilingual production of Barrio Grrrl!, written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and Philadelphia native, Quiara Alegria Hudes. This production is a joint venture of ASAP Drama and ASPIRA of PA, Inc. — a network of 5 public schools dedicated to serving Latino and other vulnerable youth in North Philadelphia. Barrio Grrrl! will engage more than 175 middle and high school youth in every aspect of the show’s production, including script preparation, acting, stage direction, sound and lighting, and audience engagement.
This multi-school musical production was borne out of ASAP and ASPIRA’s shared goal to find new, compelling ways to use the dramatic arts to empower the city’s emerging bilingual student population and build a sense of community among participating schools.
