2019 Institute on Truth, Racial Healing, & Transformation Campus Centers – Jun 25
June 25–28, 2019
Applications Due March 14, 2019
AAC&U is partnering with higher education institutions to develop Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Campus Centers to prepare the next generation of strategic leaders and critical thinkers to address the historical and contemporary entanglements of race and racism within our communities. Ten campus teams from across the country were selected by AAC&U in 2017 as the first TRHT Campus Centers, with the ultimate goal being 150 self-sustaining, community-integrated Centers.
The 2019 TRHT Institute
Teams interested in learning more about the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) framework and that have an interest in hosting a TRHT Campus Center are invited to apply to the 2019 Institute on Truth, Racial Healing, & Transformation Campus Centers. The TRHT effort should strategically align with institutional priorities and goals for advancing social justice and equitable communities. All regionally accredited two- and four-year institutions are encouraged and eligible to apply. The Institute also is designed to support the continuing work of existing TRHT Campus Centers.
At the Institute, new and returning TRHT Campus Center teams will identify evidence-based strategies that support their defined vision of inclusive, community-based healing activities that seek to change collective community narratives and broaden the understanding of our diverse experiences. Teams will participate in racial healing circles, implementation design workshops, and collaborate with experienced TRHT Campus Center mentors, workshop facilitators, communication experts, and evaluation consultants to develop and/or refine their transformative campus action plans. The action plan will include strategic goals that align with each TRHT Campus Center’s vision and how those goals fit within the existing TRHT framework, and action steps to achieve the goals. The action plan also will include a list of intended outcomes, evaluation strategies, communication, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability plans.
