2013 Philadelphia High School Fair

Background
•    The School District of Philadelphia previously hosted a high school fair every fall for middle school students to learn about their high school options, but it was cancelled this year due to financial challenges.
•    This year, the fair is being hosted through a collaboration of nonprofit partners (https://highschoolfair.squarespace.com/who/). We believe this event is an important part of the high school selection process for many students and families, and we are volunteering time and resources to offer the event to Philadelphia students.
•    The Fair is sponsored by GreatPhillySchools, a resource that provides information about all the schools in the city, developed by the Philadelphia School Partnership.

FAQ
Is the School District involved in this event?
Yes, the School District is helping to plan the event and supporting outreach efforts to schools and families.

Are private schools invited to attend the Fair this year?
Yes, all schools in Philadelphia are welcome to attend. Our goal is to present as much information as possible to help families make a decision.

Will teachers or staff be paid to attend the Fair? Do schools need to pay to attend?
All schools are invited to attend free of charge. As nonprofit organizations – which did not budget for this event this year – we do not have funding to pay anyone to attend, but we understand this means that some people will volunteer their time. All school staff who attend will be entered to win $250 worth of school supplies, and 10 gift certificates will be awarded. We will also provide drinks and lunch for all volunteers, including school representatives.
