Association for Collaborative Leadership Institute: Collaboration in Higher Education

The ACL Summer Institute is designed for senior level leaders who wish to develop a broad range of skills and acquire the knowledge essential for guiding their collaborative organizations. Institute topics focus on how to further the mission of collaboration while working with staff members, the leaders of the member institutions, and administrative and faculty teams or “communities of practice.” The Summer Institute was offered during the summer of 2012 at Five Colleges, Inc. (Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst), and was a resounding success, highly rated by participants and faculty members.

The Summer Institute is an engaging and completely interactive experience. Through a mix of readings, presentations, discussions, case studies, and team projects, participants will further develop and fine-tune their skills of analysis and leadership. The faculty members and facilitators (all experienced executives and leaders themselves) have tweaked the curriculum and pedagogical approaches to make the 2013 Summer Institute even more successful. The Summer Institute on Collaboration in Higher Education is also appropriate for senior officers of colleges and universities who play leadership roles in a consortium, lead a multi-institution collaboration project, or are planning to form a consortium or initiate other major collaborative initiatives.
